Ocean Cay is a man-made island, built in 1970, approximately 95 acres in size.The island is located 20 miles south of Bimini and approximately 65 miles east of Miami, Florida. Ocean Cay's strategic location allows for an efficient delivery distance of natural gas to the growing South Florida market.

    Ocean Cay currently consists of the following:
    • Shipping channel;
    • Small harbor;
    • Ship Turning Basin;
    • Mining support facilities; and
    • No permanent island residences.



Ocean Cay meets all site selection criteria by providing the following:

    • An industrial island far from populated areas
    • Existing deep port facilities
    • Avoiding impacts to tourism and Bahamian protected areas
    • Safe and secure location
    • Allowing compliance with new United States Coast Guard exclusion zone requirements
